Race Flyer

COURSE: Climbs 1250 Ft in 9.5 miles. The course begins on the North end of Mountainburg on Hwy
71 and climbs to the finish at the top of Mt.Gaylor. Traffic will be minimal. However, the road will not be
closed. Please exercise caution at all times.

REGISTRATION: Pre-registration at WWW.SPORTSBASEONLINE.COM. Same day registration will
be available from 8:30-9:30am. Registration order determines start time, so the earlier you register, the
earlier your start time. First rider off at 10:00 a.m. Cost is $25.00. Use Standard 2008 USCF Release
Forms. One-day licenses will be required for those not holding an annual license at a charge of $10.00.
Checks should be made payable to Mercy Cycling Team.

DIRECTIONS:
From NWA Take I-540 South to (EXIT 29 / Mountainburg) and turn left on Dollard Rd / AR 282
From I-40 Take the I-540 North and go 9 miles north to (EXIT 29 / Mountainburg) and turn right on
Dollard Rd / AR 282
BOTH Continue on AR 282 aprox. 2 miles to US-71, turn LEFT / NORTH onto US-71 and continue for 1.8
miles, turn RIGHT onto Lake Fort Smith Park Rd. Mountainburg Elementary School is 0.2 mi. up on the
left. Registration and restrooms will be located here.

All USCF rules apply and will be in effect. The $2.00 per rider insurance surcharge is included in the entry fee. The promoter reserves the right to adjust the start times or mileage, or cancel/combine categories and prize lists as necessary on race day. Event to be held rain or shine, but can be delayed or canceled in the event of a protracted lightening storm.

Hell's Kitchen 2008 Race Results

It was a record turnout of riders for the 2008 Hell's Kitchen Road Race with a total field of 279 riders. The day started out cold, but turned into a sunny and mild afternoon. Congratulations to all the winners of the races. There was a good turnout of local Arkansas riders and several took the podium for 1st places! Thanks Accelerade Cycling Team for putting on a good race!

Well the 2008 Carve Crosswind Classic has come and gone and everyone's legs are recovering from the race! The wind helped the race live up to its name as their was definitely some windy moments!

Team Lewis & Clark is asking anyone interested in joining the club, road, or mountain biking race teams to come to the next club meeting at the Lewis & Clark Outfitters store in Rogers, AR. The meeting will be held from 7pm to 9pm and will be primarily for getting people signed up to the club and race teams and to explain what being a "member" is all about. Refreshments will be served. Slipstream Sports awards Polka-Dot KOM sponsorship to Tyson Racing

After a successful start in February 2007, the Tyson Racing Junior Development Program was recognized by Slipstream Sports with the Polka-Dot KOM award. Twenty-five outstanding youth cycling programs from all around the U.S were awarded different sponsorship levels based on results, program strength and long-term commitment to developing the next generation of American champions. Our 2008 Goals

To grow the program and to continue the development of hard-working riders who are committed to racing and whose goal is to become one day a professional rider.

We will send a select group of riders to the USA Cycling Regional Development Camp in Lubbock, TX with the goal of qualifying to the Tour de L'Abitibi. In addition we will take a competitive team to Road Nationals in Seven Springs PA. Other high-level racing opportunities will be seriously considered.

Accelerade Cycling Team/Dickson Street Cycling Club

Accelerade Cycling Team (Formerly known as Dickson Street Cycling Club (DSCC)) has announced its 2008 rider and sponsor lineup. This team is based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The team will focus on racing in the Midwest but will try build on its top placing (Category 3) in the second annual Best Arkansas Rider and Team competition (details are found on arkansasbicyclecoalition.org website). Accelerade Cycling Team will look to continue its numerous wins and podium finishes in the Category 2, 3, 4 and masters fields.

The NWA Spring Classic was a complete success! Thanks to the organizing committee, officials, race volunteers, law enforcement, racers, and all who made this a great event. The proceeds helped the Tyson Racing/Fayetteville Wheelman junior development racing program reach new levels.

USA Cycling Talent Search

USA Cycling Talent Search, Powered by RacerMate, Extended to May

Nationwide Program Identifies Talented Juniors for Fast Track Development

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The inaugural USA Cycling National Talent Search, Powered by RacerMate has been extended to May 7th. The talent search program is designed to help identify the nation’s young athletes (boys and girls, age 15-18 years old) with the raw potential to join USA Cycling’s top tier, the USA National Cycling Team. The top performers in a 20km (12.5 miles) time trial simulation test will be invited to USA Cycling Regional Development Camps in their regions in June.

USA Cycling and RacerMate, Inc., have responded to requests from the 15 Multi-Rider centers participating nationwide to extend the deadline for gathering the testing data of the 20-kilometer time trial. “Rather than rush to finish the program and perhaps leave some athletes unable to qualify in time, USA Cycling and RacerMate would rather revise the program,” said Sam Callan, USA Cycling manager for the program.

An optional eight-week training program had been suggested as part of the USA Cycling/RacerMate National Talent Search. Organizers would like to stress that this program is optional, not mandatory, for young cyclists that wish to discover their raw potential. “A lot of young athletes out there, not only cyclists but cross country and endurance track runners, might be surprised by how much cycling potential they have,” commented Chuck Wurster, the Vice President of RacerMate Inc.

The athletes are being tested at designated USA Cycling National Talent Search Centers throughout the United States using RacerMate's Velotron electronic bicycle ergometer/trainer. The test on the Velotron consists of a realistic bicycling simulation using the actual topography of the course to be used July 13 for the national championships at the USA Cycling National Festival at Seven Springs, in Pennsylvania. The primary focus of the test is the athlete’s time and power output over the simulated 20km time trial course.
